Vadim Villarroel, MD

Dr. Vadim Villarroel graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth College with a concentration in Genetics, Cell, and Developmental Biology. He attended the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. During his time at Hopkins, he was awarded a distinguished HHMI-NIH Research Scholars Fellowship, which he completed with Dr. Steve Katz in the Dermatology Branch of the National Cancer Institute focused on cutaneous immunology. Following medical school, Dr. Villarroel completed an internship in internal medicine at the Harvard Medical School – Mount Auburn Hospital, followed by a dermatology residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. A board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Villarroel is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He is a member of the Massachusetts Academy of Dermatology, the New England Dermatological Society, and the Massachusetts Medical Society.

Dr. Villarroel practices general dermatology with clinical interests including acne, rosacea, and skin cancer screening and prevention. He has authored several peer-reviewed articles in dermatology and has presented at national and international meetings.

With his strong investigative background, Dr. Villarroel is passionate about acquiring knowledge on cutting-edge developments in dermatology. He is dedicated to expanding his expertise by staying current with the latest advancements in the field.

Medical: acne, rosacea, skin cancer screening and prevention, skin disease in diverse skin types, adult dermatologic conditions, eczema/atopic dermatitis

Surgical: removal of skin growths, treatment of skin cancer

Cosmetic: skin care and non-surgical facial rejuvenation

• Dr. Villarroel’s original research in cutaneous immunology was awarded a National Cancer Institute Cancer Research Training Award. He continued clinical investigation into intrinsic and extrinsic skin aging at the Johns Hopkins Hospital Department of Dermatology.
• Dr. Villarroel has authored articles in many journals including the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, Pediatric Dermatology, The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, and Retrovirology. He has also presented his research at many national and international conferences such as the Society for Investigative Dermatology, Atlantic Dermatologic Conference, and the International Investigative Dermatology Meeting.
• Dr. Villarroel has also contributed to the authorship of book chapters.
